چکیده

Objectives : The greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of coal, natural gas, wind, solar, hydropower, and nuclear electricity generation mentioned in the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) LCA report were discussed. Korean GHG calculated from database (DB) national life cycle inventory (LCI), compared with international average, then aim this study was to discuss necessity updating internationalizing LCI DB.Methods coal power, wind onshore solar hydropower UNECE analyzed, climate change, that is, emissions, among environmental impact assessment categories per 1 kWh functional unit DB by applying global warming potential GHGs.Results Discussion (452 g CO2-eq./kWh), (6.3 power (53 CO2-eq./kWh) presented within range results report. However, exceeded average highest ranges. hard bituminous 1,351 CO2-eq./kWh 1,160 CO2-eq./kWh, respectively, which higher than value, 1,095 CO2 eq./kWh (China). Analysis plants showed coal-fired use more brown is known be relatively low-quality produce less anthracite plants. In plants, it necessary check whether generated processes other combustion process significant. Conclusion Electricity accounts largest portion when calculating therefore, accurate data necessary. Korea, highly dependent on production, should update its as soon possible increase competitiveness a basis realizing carbon neutrality 2050.

Life Cycle Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Electricity Generation: A Comparative Analysis of Australian Energy Sources

Electricity generation is one of the major contributors to global greenhouse gas emissions. Transitioning the World’s energy economy to a lower carbon future will require significant investment in a variety of cleaner technologies, including renewables and nuclear power. In the short term, improving the efficiency of fossil fuel combustion in energy generation can provide an important contribut...

Marginal Life-Cycle Greenhouse Gas Emissions of Electricity Generation in Portugal and Implications for Electric Vehicles

This article assesses marginal greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of electricity generation in Portugal to understand the impact of activities that affect electricity demand in the near term. In particular, it investigates the introduction of electric vehicles (EVs) in the Portuguese light-duty fleet considering different displacement and charging scenarios (vehicle technologies displaced, EV charg...

Life-cycle Assessment of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Irrigated Maize: the Life-cycle Analysis

The life-cycle analysis of this multi-institutional project concentrated on determining the greenhouse gas emissions involved in pre-farm, on-farm and post-farm activities involved in the use of maize for the manufacture of corn chips. When the emissions are all expressed in terms of CO2-equivalents (CO2-e), then pre-farm emissions comprise about 5% of the life-cycle emissions, on-farm activiti...

The complexity and challenges of determining GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions from grid electricity consumption and conservation in LCA (life cycle assessment) e A methodological review

The way in which GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions associated with grid electricity consumption is handled in different LCA (life cycle assessment) studies, varies significantly. Apart from differences in actual research questions, methodological choices and data set selection have a significant impact on the outcomes. These inconsistencies result in difficulties to compare the findings of various...
